Experienced Musician

Mike McComb, owner of Wornstar Media, performed live music in clubs and other venues in Winnipeg and the surrounding area most weekends for 20 years. At the very heart of Wornstar Media is Music Video Production. Mike's experience in music helps him know his way around a stage when shooting, and sound when it comes to capturing the very best in sound.

Mike has extensive experience putting together promotional music videos for cover bands, but lately has worked with a couple of original recording acts in Winnipeg, included below.

Slippin Away, D2UR, Music Video Winnipeg

Music video shot in Winnipeg for original recording artists D2UR and stars Felisha Ann Mitchell. Based on the mood of the song based on the current state of the pandemic I felt a black & white look made sense. Please note the trendy squiggly lines included in the video! :)

This video has received 11,000 views on the band's YouTube channel at the time of this posting.

Lockdown, Metal Knight, Music Video Winnipeg

Another pandemic based video shot for Winnipeg recording artists Metal Knight. Shot in all 4K along with tracks recorded at 150% and 200% to achieve some slow motion tracks. I made the band perform the song nine different times from different angles and with different camera lenses.

Compilation Video, Stylus, Music Video Winnipeg

Audio recorded at Bedside Studio and video shot at various locations. Video tracks then synched in post to the audio tracks achieving the best in audio quality, important when a cover act is using the video to obtain gigs.

Little Sunshine, D2UR, Winnipeg

Interesting, and challenging, part of this video is that the band performed to a 'click' so I was able to use their pre-recorded audio track for this song. One of the biggest challenges when recording a band live is getting the audio right.

All the best live audio recording equipment can't fix flat singing, missed guitar notes, etc. An evening shooting a band live can easily be ruined by a band not liking how they actually sound.

Music Video, Cover Band Compilation, Winnipeg

To produce this video I used 6 camera angles and mixed 4 live audio tracks, then synched them all together in Adobe's Premiere Pro, eq'ed the audio tracks, balanced the levels, colour graded the video with an adjustment layer, chose which areas of which songs to use then stitched them all together.

Making promotional videos like this is at the very core of where Wornstar Media began.
